Board of Directors

Meet our 2023-2024 Board of Directors! Learn more about FACL BC's structure, mission, and committees here

Fiona Wong (she/her) is an employment lawyer at Overholt Law LLP. When she is not working or volunteering for FACL, she enjoys trying new restaurants, planning her next trip, and reminiscing about her past days as a flight attendant.

Vice-President External

Sebastian Chern (he/him) is an associate at Howard Employment Law. Sebastian is proudly Taiwanese and is always on the hunt for the best beef noodle soup in Vancouver (he still strongly believes his mom's is the best).

Vice-President Internal

Jim Wu (he/him) is a lawyer at Forte Workplace Law. When he is not putting out fires for issues arising from hiring and firing and everything in between, he divides his time cooking, singing karaoke and having a good workout on the Brazilian jiu-jitsu mats.

Vice-President Marketing

Jenny Huang (she/her) is an associate at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. She has scaled a cliff in Iceland, auditioned for the Great Canadian Baking Show and appeared in a superhero TV show, but one of the above is a lie. Join one of Jenny’s “Write On” journaling sessions for the truth!

Daniel Szeto (he/him) is an associate at Miller Thomson in the Social Impact group following a brief stint as an accountant prior to entering the legal profession. He was previously an Executive Coordinator for FACL BC from 2020 to 2022.

Advisory Director

Steven Ngo (he/him) works as Sr. Counsel for Rivian and was named one of Canada's Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers. Outside of law, Steven engages in various ventures, which include hosting a podcast on fatherhood, learning languages and BBQ'ing.

Lily Zhang (she/her) is a litigation associate at Owen Bird Law Corporation. She is a Formula 1 race fan.

Gala Chair

Paige Mueller (she/her) graduated from TRU as a Law Society of BC Gold Medallist. She is a litigation associate at Fasken with a focus on commercial litigation and arbitration. Paige enjoys exploring new restaurants, cultivating her culinary skills, and cheering for the Seahawks.

Charlene Tsai (she/her) is a family law lawyer at Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP. In her spare time, Charlene can be found trying out new food places and soaking in the sun with the cutest dog in existence (her fluffy white bichon frise).

David How (he/him) is an associate in the Aboriginal Law Practice Group at Cassels Brock & Blackwell and a graduate of McGill Law. He is the Co-Chair of FACL BC’s Advocacy Committee and an avid frisbee player and board game enthusiast.

Jennine Punzalan (she/her) is a litigation associate at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP and completed a clerkship at the Federal Court. She has an affinity for musical theatre, Scandinavian design, and cats.

Sandy Lun (she/her) is an associate at Farris LLP where she maintains a broad litigation practice. In her spare time, she enjoys paddleboarding, falling off her snowboard, and dreaming about her future pet cat.

Cen Yang (she/her) is a litigator at Singleton Reynolds LLP. In her spare time, she enjoys karaoke, cooking, and trying new restaurants with friends.

Catherine Wong (she/her) recently completed her articles at Guild Yule LLP. Outside of the legal realm, Catherine loves animals and owns a Holland Lop named Hershey.

Shanna Gu (she/her) is a lawyer at MLT Aikins LLP, and she is licensed to practice in both Ontario and BC. Her simple pleasures in life include skiing, watching the sunset, and eating spicy food.

Zheng-Yi Ong is a corporate and securities lawyer. She has been involved in FACL since 1L and is the Mentorship Committee Co-Chair. When she’s not lawyering, she also occasionally DJs in bars across the city.

Student Director (UBC)

Miguel Oreta (he/him) is a third year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. He believes that justice should be served cold, otherwise it would be just water.
