Since its founding in 2011, FACL BC's presence in the Vancouver legal community has grown rapidly - it is now the primary professional organization supporting BC's growing body of Asian-Canadian lawyers, judges and law students.
We are pleased to announce that FACL BC's 7th Annual Gala will take place on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel. Year after year, FACL BC hosts a sold-out, signature event, which has grown from 130 attendees in our inaugural year to 350 attendees in 2017.
This year's keynote speaker is Michael Lee.
Michael was elected the MLA for Vancouver-Langara in 2017. He is the Official Opposition Critic for Attorney General and is a member of the Select Standing Committee on Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders and Private Bills.
Prior to his election, Michael was a business lawyer and partner with Lawson Lundell LLP. Before obtaining his law degree at the University of Victoria, he worked as a Special Assistant to the Right Honourable Kim Campbell in Vancouver and Ottawa. He also holds a BSc in Biology, a BA (Hons) in Political Science and an MA degree in Political Science with a focus on environmental regulations.
Michael has served as the past Chair of the Board of Directors of Arts Umbrella and Alumni UBC. He has also served as a past Vice-Chair and Board member of Science World British Columbia, SUCCESS and Leadership Vancouver. Michael is a past Board member of the YMCA of Greater Vancouver Foundation, the Justice Education Society of BC, Sustainable Cities International and the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association.
