Presented by Goodlawyer in collaboration with FACL BC, Cassels, and Clarity (formerly Hiive), this event is a candid, women-only conversation about menopause and perimenopause at work. Women lawyers are juggling hormones, brain fog, caregiving and career pressure all at once, and almost nobody talks about it openly.

The event will pair two kinds of expertise:

  • Medical: Dr. Bal Pawa (West Coast Women's Health), a menopause specialist, on what's actually happening in the body and brain. She sees a lot of burnt-out women lawyers in her clinic.
  • Lived Experience: Female lawyer panelists will speak towards the topic in their personal circumstances: in-house, fractional practice and law firm life. The discussion will also touch on motherhood, since the two life stages often overlap.

The event is in the style of a fireside chat, with the goal of making menopause approachable to talk about in the workplace. Each attendee will receive a goodie bag to bring home and the panel will be recorded.

Date: Thursday, October 29, 2026.

Agenda:

  • 4:00 pm: Mimosa bar and mingling
  • 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm: Panel
  • 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm: Reception

Venue: Cassels (Vancouver office - Park Place, 666 Burrard Street #3100).

Partners: Cassels, Erin Wiley (General Counsel at Clarity, formerly Hiive), FACL BC's In-House Committee and the Vancouver In-House Trailblazers.

Note: 15 spots are reserved for FACL BC members. Attendees should RSVP directly with FACL BC and not through Goodlawyer. Registration preference is given to FACL BC members who are female in-house lawyers.

While this event is complimentary, we kindly request that you inform us of any changes to your RSVP as a courtesy to both Cassels, our host, and other potential attendees. Timely notification of any changes ensures efficient planning and helps us maintain the quality of our events. Please note that unexplained absences or repeated no-shows to FACL BC events may affect your ability to attend future complimentary events.
